Not Messy at All

crossI was very impressed with the second step in the Six Steps to Talking About Jesus series we are doing at bible study. Today’s step was UNDERSTAND, and it was all about making sure everyone had a good understanding of the gospel. Accompanied by an excellent gospel presentation. Loved it.

Isn’t the gospel of our Lord just amazing???? Read Ephesians 2:1-10. Loved it. Read 2 Corinthians 5:10-21 again. Loved it again. I know, using the L word a lot. It was just great to revisit the gospel in a group where everyone had a firm understanding of it, we were all in awe afresh of what God has done.

This approach to discussing the gospel uses four R’s (based on the Ephesians reading), Rebellion (Eph 2:1-3); Rescue (Eph 2:4-5); Resurrection (Eph 2:6-7) and Response (Eph 2:8-10).

I don’t know yet how this series gets into starting up spiritual conversations and overcoming objections, but it will be interesting to see. I can see how it might all fit in well with the tools already at my disposal (ie WOTM stuff), but I will reserve judgement for another four weeks. I think it might be very closely linked to the two ways to live presentation http://www.matthiasmedia.com.au/2wtl/ which I have never used personally, as I like the straightforwardness of the good test www.wayofthemaster.com As I say, judgement is suspended for now. One thing I do like is that each week we are encouraged to practise sharing our faith with each other. Last week we had 2 miniutes, this week 1 minute was the time limit. I like that. People often have short attention spans, so we need to be able to present the gospel without waffling.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Six Steps to Talking About Jesus resource, here’s a link to take you there: http://secure.fellowworkers.com/cgi-bin/mmstore/ssttaj.html I think it’s going to turn out to be a great series.
