The Leading of the Lord in Evangelism

Posted: September 13, 2007 by Daniel in Christianity, evangelism, religions and beliefs, resources

Just finished listening to John Piper’s sermon based on the story of Philip and the Ethiopian. You can find it in Acts 8:26-40.

Hearing the direct instruction of the Lord is something that I rarely consider in street evangelism, but I am always aware that God is at work when we are out there. I have had many times when it seems that God has arranged an opportunity for the gospel. In this message, Piper encourages us to be open to this dangerous form of evangelism and to not dismiss it out of hand. He argues that it will not diminish our thirst for scripture – it cannot for scripture alone is what we need for guidance and nurture and training in wisdom and truth.

After hearing this message I will be more prayerful and more mindful of such possibilities in my evangelism encounters.
