Steadily preoccupied with Jesus till the end

Posted: October 12, 2008 by Daniel in Uncategorized

Perseverance proves the pedigree of the true Christian. Being preoccupied with Christ Jesus is a command from scripture.

Heb 3:1-3 (ESV) Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, (v2) who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. (v3) For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses–as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.

The NIV puts v1 and 2 in two sentences:

1Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. 2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.

We are all worshipers. Worship and service are tightly related and are present together in everyone’s life. We are either worshiping God or idols. What do you think about every evening? What preoccupies your heart? It will either be your idol(s) or Jesus Christ.

Are your thoughts fixed on Him?

Hold on to the hope that God will keep his promises, holding on Christ till the end will prove that you are a true Believer. Jesus is the prize that we are fixated upon.
