Study at home

Posted: August 1, 2009 by Daniel in Uncategorized

I have often read Christian teaching books either pursuing a passion/interest (ie. i have lots of evangelism books) or to strenthen weaknesses. I have recently seen the benefit of doing more structured bible study and training and the possibility afforded to us via online distance ed. I’m surprised I’ve never seen this as an option. I do know I can often start programs and give up soon after. I guess one needs to have the right motive (to glorify God in one’s study) and to ask God for help.

I would like to share a couple of courses that I have found of interest. They both cost $100-300 by the time enrolment, materials and bits and pieces are purchased.

If you know of any other great distance ed courses, please share your links here

My latest thinking is to do a course through Moore – looks great. 10 weeks to do 2 units then a test. The Preliminary Certificate costs about $500 (6x$80units).

http://worldwide-classroom.com/ Covenant Theological Seminary has heaps of free lectures from their degree programmes. I thought about doing the degree by distance and found out that the cost is $435 US/ credit hour, most classes are 3 credits. But you can download them for free!
I’ve been getting so much out of Jerram Barr’s (formerly of L’Abri) series on Francis Schaeffer’s Later Years and plan to start in on his “Apologetics and Outreach” lectures next.
    Full list at http://worldwide-classroom.com/courses/
They also offer free optional Study Plans – you can work your way comprehensively through all their courses or choose one aspect.
God bless them for sharing this fantastic material.

      Thanks Margaret.

Nice to hear from another Tasmanian. Appreciate the encouragement. May we both be active in declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ in our life and with words.

      Always in His Grace,
      Daniel
